Fenerbahçe University was founded in parallel with the Fenerbahçe Sports Club, which has over 100 years of experience, and the Medicana Health Group, which has been investing in the national and international health sector since 1992, through innovation, technology, and expertise in the healthcare sector, in accordance with the law published in the Official Gazette on November 24, 2016. The university began academic study in the 2019-2020 academic year with 5 faculties and 12 departments, accepting 392 students. Over time, the university's overall occupancy rate rose to 96.3% in the 2020-2021 academic year, with study expanding to 17 departments, 10 academic programs, and 1,150 students, including the establishment of the Vocational School of Healthcare Services. In 2021, the total number of students reached 1,743 from various undergraduate programs, including international students, and the Graduate School was equipped to start master's and PhD programs, making Fenerbahçe University one of the best private universities in Turkey.
